The reason why...

I remember that my first approach to aesthetics was at a very young age. I was about eight or nine years old and I began to like objects, decoration, to appreciate objects, accents, flowers in the houses I was going to play. While my friends concentrated on playing, I wanted to see the living rooms of the house; those immaculate spaces, prohibited for children and where everything was arranged perfectly organized, clean and forming a perfect composition that caught my attention. I remember the walls stuccoed with colors, typical of the early 90s, and objects brought from China, those small solid and reddish boxes where they kept the ashes of their dead, and that there were used as decorative elements. I remember the pre-Columbian vessels that complemented some work of art hanging on the wall. I remember Scottish textiles and Elizabethan furniture combined with modern objects and lighting. I remember those houses, I remember the feeling that made me fall in love with beautiful things.

Later in life fashion caught my attention, those pieces that as a woman make me feel alive, that make me feel that it is worth getting up every morning and with which I manage to feel powerful, no matter what battle I am fighting, everything will be OK. That feeling of euphoria and harmony is what inspired me to start this adventure of looking for unique pieces that fill my soul and which I want to share with the world.  

Style à la Porte is born today, and with it this blog, a joyfull place where ordinary women like me can converge, and find emerging designers and their beautiful and unique pieces. Let´s the treasure hunt begins!
